Historic sites and monumentsHistorical heritage
This megalith, classified as a Historic Monument, is a collective burial site dating back to the end of the Neolithic period (2500 to 2000 BC).
This magnificent megalith is the oldest evidence of human occupation in Draguignan. Dating from 2500 BC, it is listed as a Monument Historique and is one of the most imposing in Provence, weighing some 60 tonnes and standing 2 metres high. Local myths have it that it was erected to shelter the love between a fairy and a genie who died there together, and that it is the place where the fairy Estérelle makes women fertile after serving them a beverage.
