About
Collection of around 100 lithographs by Max Ernst, one of the world's leading exponents of the "Dada" and Surrealist movements, and his wife Dorothea Tanning, an artist in the same vein. Also on view are paintings by Stan Appenzeller.
The creator of the strange Loplop bird found his "planet" in Seillans. With almost 100 lithographs, aquatints and etchings by Max Ernst and Dorothea Tanning, this exhibition retraces the couple's stay in Seillans from 1964 to 1976. Known as one of the greatest exponents of the Surrealist movement, Max Ernst ended his life and work in the tranquility of this pretty hilltop village. You can admire his famous bronze "Le génie de la Bastille" (The Genius of the Bastille) on the Place de la République, which was a favorite spot for Max Ernst.
